FAU Women's Basketball Face Tough Divisional Foes This Week

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will try to get on the Sun Belt board with a win this week. The Owls travel to Middle Tennessee State University for an 8 p.m. Thursday contest, before coming back to FAU arena to play host to Troy University at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 12.

MTSU is 8-7 overall and 3-1 in the Sun Belt, and recently received two votes in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Poll after upsetting eighth-ranked Louisiana State University 67-56 on December 28. The Blue Raiders are led by guard Amber Holt, who leads the conference in scoring with 26.1 points per game and was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Monday. FAU is led by Carla Stubbs, who averages 12.8 points per game and tied her career-high 18 points in last Thursday's 72-62 loss to University of South Alabama. Thursday night's contest can be listened to on fausports.com, and video streaming also will be available at www.b2livetv.com.

On Saturday, the Owls face Troy, who entered this week at 8-6 overall and 1-2 in the Sun Belt. The Trojans are led by guard Amy Lewis, who is third in the Sun Belt in scoring with 19.6 points per game. Tickets are available for Saturday's game and can be purchased by calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS. The first 100 fans at the game will receive a free FAU souvenir cup and drink.

On Saturday, January 19, FAU plays host to the University of North Texas. Prior to the women's game, there will be a celebration at 3:30 p.m. honoring the FAU Football team its R + L Carriers New Orleans Bowl championship, as well as the Sun Belt Conference title. The team celebration is free and open to the general public. It will be a great opportunity to purchase commemorative photos, T-shirts, hats, as well as a free autographed New Orleans Bowl ticket and a commemorative poster.
