As a sophomore ('07): Lead the team in kills with 296...had a .321 hitting percentage on the season...also led team in double-digit kill matches with 14 on the year....twice tied her career high with 22 kills, against South Alabama and Arkansas State...also tied her career high with seven total blocks against South Alabama...had a .667 hitting efficiency against (11-1-15) ULM...set a career high with seven digs in the season opener against New Mexico...had her first career service ace against Grambling State

As a freshman ('06): Finished second on the team with a .283 hitting percentage which ranks 10th in school history...had 11 matches with double-digit kills...had four matches with five or more blocks with a season-high seven coming against UCF...season-high 22 kills also came in that match as she hit .439.

At the Sun Belt Tournament ('06): Finished with a team-high 14 kills and four blocks against Middle Tennessee with a match-high 35 total attempts.

In 2005: Red-shirt season in volleyball...competed with the FAU track team and won the conference indoor shot put title and conference outdoor discus title...qualified for the NCAA Regional in the discus.

High School: Played for John Pardy at Clarkstown South High School where she was the 2003 and 2004 team MVP, All-Conference and Journal News Player of the Year...in 2003 she was named All-State...also participated in indoor and outdoor track and field...in the 2003 indoor season she finished 22nd in the nation in the shot put and was the Clarkstown South Shot Put record holder with a throw of 40'0"...during her career she earned All-Section, All-Rockland County Second Team and All-Conference honors...also participated in the New York Hispanic Games and finished as high as fourth place in the shot put...in 2005 broke the school record in the 300 meters...in outdoor track she was the league and county champion in the shot put and discus in 2004 and was a member of the sprint medley relay that broke the school record in 2003...in 2004 earned First Team All-Section and First Team All-County recognition.

Club Volleyball: Played for the Cut Shot Volleyball Club from 2002-04 and won the 2003 GEVA Open Division 18 and under...in the summer of 2004 she participated in the Empire State Games...in 2005 she played for the Downstate Volleyball Club.

Personal: Multimedia communication major...daughter of Thelma Castro...born Feb. 18, 1987, in New York City...active in the Episcopal Church and volunteered with the community outreach program.
