FAU Clipped by Blue Raiders on Senior Night

BOCA RATON, FL - Spurred by a pregame ceremony recognizing its two seniors, the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team pushed Middle Tennessee State University to four sets, but ultimately fell (14-25, 25-23, 21-25, 13-25) on Saturday night.

The Owls (12-16, 5-11 Sun Belt) got into an early hole against MTSU in the first set and never recovered losing the set 25-14. FAU also fell behind early in the second set, but rallied to tie it at 15. Several points later, the match was tied at 20 when Casey LaRocca assisted on three of the next four FAU points and combined with Krystena Castro on the clinching block to tie the match at one set apiece.

In the third set, FAU got out to a sizable lead, holding a 13-9 advantage when the Blue Raiders fought their way back to a 15-all tie. MTSU took four straight points in taking set three 25-21. The Owls and Blue Raiders were tied at 5 in set four when MTSU went on a 13-4 run, eventually winning the set 25-13.

Morgan Johns had a team-high 19 kills for FAU. The Owls return to the court on Saturday, November 15 when they travel to Miami, FL to take on rival Florida International University in their regular season finale.
