FAU Volleyball to Start Sun Belt Play

Sept. 23, 2008

Coach Brown Interview: Weekly Preview

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team will enter its Sun Belt schedule this weekend when they face Troy University and the University of South Alabama.

The Owls lost their only match last weekend, falling to the University of Miami in three sets. FAU seeks to improve from their 2007 season when they went 3-14 in conference play.

Troy (9-6), who swept last season's series, will be FAU's first conference opponent on Friday, September 26, beginning at 7 p.m. Troy is led by junior middle blocker Meghan Gilroy, who is averaging almost four kills a set.

South Alabama comes to town on Saturday, September 27, beginning at 7 p.m. The Jaguars and Owls split the season series in 2007, each winning at home. Mallory Deneen had a career high in both kills (16) and digs (21) in FAU's 3-2 victory last season. South Alabama features a balanced offensive attack with four starters averaging at least two kills a set.

Both matches will have live stats and web streaming available at fausports.com.
